 An Amazing Story

When I was 47, I found myself in an emergency room, my bodily functions shutting down and my doctor saying I wouldn’t live to see 50. I was devastated since I had never really been sick. The year was 1988. Our background was in retailing. Our passion was fashion. I always say I was overworked and under-vacationed, never realizing my health was at risk. The only symptom was I felt tired. I had many health challenges. We went to every doctor and clinic with no answer or solution. Sick in bed for two years, my life spiraled out of control. Sick, tired, scared, broke and feeling like there was no way out at this point, we lost everything.

Then, as now, my husband Jimmy’s strength and determination helped keep us going. He’s my rock, my life partner and the wind beneath my wings. Then, one lucky day, a nurse friend visited my sick bed in 1990. She looked so young and radiant. The nurse said, “My looking good is the result of the antioxidants in Right Choice AM/PM vitamins.” Looking proof positive in the eye, I responded, “I want some of that stuff!” I looked sick. I waned to look good. Within weeks on the products, I had more energy. I could walk without pain, breathe easier, and within five months I was up and running full speed. Although the nutritional supplements don’t treat, cure, prevent or mitigate disease, I was delighted by the results. But I still didn’t consider selling the products. I was a designer. I sold fashions. I didn’t want to sell vitamins.

I got a phone call in 1991 and was invited to a business opportunity meeting that I did not want to go to (by a couple of really pushy guys). Wow! This was the most amazing turn of events and changed our destiny forever. I fell in love with Body Wise and network marketing and the idea of escaping the rat race. They sold me on the dream. With no money, I borrowed $1,500 from an aunt, and the promised to repay it in two weeks was my driving force. Starting with no experience, it made sense to make more calls to make more money.

On the phone, sharing the products with everyone, I was unstoppable. I built our business one brick at a time. My toughest sale, would you believe, was my own husband. It took me seven years and a back injury for skeptical Jimmy, an ex-Golden Gloves boxer, ex-Marine and ex-police officer, to try our products. Jimmy’s results were amazing! He lost 35 pounds, found awesome new energy, avoided back surgery, looks and feels ten years younger, and plays basketball with the young men. Today, we are living the dream in our beautiful home overlooking the lake. Thanks to Body Wise, we travel to exotic places and work with who we want, when we want. My commute time is twelve seconds from my bedroom to my office, in my robe and slippers. (This is really almost the best part. Robe and slippers are very cool and most people really connect with that.)

  • Building a whole team of champions from scratch
  • Making them feel special
  • Having Gloria Mueller as an upline friend who watches over me   
I credit Senior Vice President Wayne Paulson with teaching me the “football strategy.” It’s been key to my success: Design a game plan on paper. Come to practice. Get in the game to win. The support from Wayne has been unbelievable, with daily strategy phone calls at 6:00 a.m. sharp. It’s emotional and inspirational medicine having my upline and downline call me every day. Even when you’re feeling low, it just moves my groove and starts my day. These days I wake up at four or five o’clock every morning to sprinkle joy all around by phone and e-mail. Because, you see, I still have a future goal that drives me: To be the winningest coach in Body Wise.
